Robert B. Pamplin, Jr. receives prestigious Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society Award

’68 MBA University of Portland alumnus honored

Robert B. Pamplin, Jr., who earned his MBA at the University of Portland in 1968, was a recent recipient of the 2012 Business Achievement Award, awarded by Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society.

The highly selective and noteworthy honor is awarded annually to no more than four international leaders who have made significant achievements in business while also enhancing a community and humankind through their generosity. Those selected have also shown ethical leadership throughout their careers and exemplify the integrity consistent with the ideals of Beta Gamma Sigma.

The award was announced on April 12 following a well-attended Bauccio lecture by Arthur Rubinfeld, Starbucks Coffee Company’s president for global development, given on the University of Portland campus in Portland, Ore.

“Out of all the many worthy nominations we received, Dr. Pamplin was a clear choice for this year’s award,” said James A. Viehland, Executive Director of Beta Gamma Sigma.  “His accomplishments, commitment to community and extraordinary generosity exemplify the very best of Beta Gamma Sigma’s ideals.  He is a role model for our 675,000 members worldwide, and for emerging business leaders everywhere.  There aren’t many people able to do what he’s done and be successful.”
